Welcome to my world of sewing and fashion! My interest in sewing started at a young age while growing up in Liberia, West Africa, with my family. I owe my love for sewing to my amazing mom.  She was an educator and author who not only created her own clothing and mine but also meticulously crafted matching outfits for my dolls, in vibrant African print fabrics. . Little did I know that this early exposure to the beauty of African prints would shape my passion for unique clothing and styles.

As I grew older, my interest in fashion grew, and I became fascinated by the idea of wearing garments that truly represented my individuality. The desire to express myself through clothing led me to experiment with the art of sewing. I wanted to create pieces that not only reflected my personality but also celebrated beautiful patterns and colors found in African prints.

One significant moment in my sewing journey occurred during my teenage years when my aunt enrolled me in a sewing class. It was in that class that I first experienced the joy of bringing fabric to life. From that moment forward, I knew that sewing was not just a hobby, but a passion that would stay with me for a lifetime.

As I worked on developing my sewing skills, I decided to focus on creating clothing exclusively for myself. The ability to design and craft unique outfits was empowering, and it fueled my desire to share my creations with the world.

In 2019, it was this very passion that inspired me to establish Lainees Designs (named after my mom), a handcrafted apparel and accessories brand that embodies the essence of African prints and fashion fabrics. We offer a range of handmade coats, dresses, skirts, tops, aprons, gifts and accessories, meticulously crafted with vibrant African prints that celebrate the rich cultural heritage of West Africa. With every piece I create, I aim to capture the same excitement and pride that I felt when sewing my own garments.
